OUR TEAM

A long tradition of world class riders have been collaborating with Spidi from the late 70s. From the 500 days to the modern MotoGP riders, from Freddie Spencer to Marco Melandri, we supported riders with the most advanced technology, safety devices and worked alongside them to improve the motorbike experience for everyone

In 1977 Spidi get its first World Championship with Kenny Roberts (500 class).
In 1994 Spidi starts the production of the leather suits.
In 1997 John Kocinski is World Superbike Champion.
In 2000 World Superbike Championship, the Spidi rider Colin Edwards wins the World Title.
In 2002 Marco Melandri wins the 250cc World Championship, Colin Edwards wins the WSBK Championship, Fabien Foret wins the 2002 WSS Championship and Vittorio Iannuzzo wins the 2002 European Superstock Championship.
In 2003 Michel Fabrizio wins the European Superstock Championship. Ben Spies wins the AMA Formula Extreme Championship and Jamie Hacking wins the AMA Supersport Championship.
In 2004 Sete Gibernau gains, for the second consecutive year, the Vice-World Champion title, so does Laconi in the World Superbike Championship.
In 2005 and 2006, Sebastien Charpentier wins the World Supersport Championship.
In 2009 Spidi riders captured both the World Supersport title with Cal Crutchlow and the British Superbike Championship with young talent Leon Camier.

The relationship with riders is not simply a way of sponsoring: it is an exchange focused on the improvement of our products. For Spidi, the sport success goes together with the technological one. An example of this cooperation is the improvement of the HYDROBACK system. This innovative bag with the necessary supply of hydrating liquid for a whole MotoGP race has been inserted inside the hump. Thanks to a mechanical valves system linked to a special straw, the rider is able to drink no matter how fast he is, whenever he feels to. This particular bag is integrated in the polyurethane hump that protects the back, and it contains liquids (sport drinks or water) for 500cc. Now, with several improvements, Spidi launched even in the mass production the system, introducing it in the aerodynamic appendix also on standard professional suits.
